Oh, man. BTDT. It is rough caring for a sick parent/grandparent. They desperately need so much care, but it’s a big strain on the caregiver, physically, mentally and emotionally. When you’re caring for others, don’t forget to care for yourself as well.
Weird timing. I just watched Starship Troopers (1997) again and went over to look at the discourse. One of the sources is “Fascinating Fascism” (a 1975 essay by Susan Sontag) where traits like beauty, courage, and intellect are revered to the point of fetishis, and serving the community at the expense of the self is an ideal.
I grew up under Confucianism (obedience leads to harmony, the status quo above all) so it’s hard for me to recognize “how much anarchy” one needs without being overly selfish and undisciplined.
