You are not stupid. Your privacy has been violated. Hopefully your family can be supportive and not either hostile or crowding. From your reaction it sounds like not. I’ve never known what to do with hostile family members except to keep them at a distance.
Thank you. My brother said he thought it was one of my stories, so he started reading it. I know Dad won’t understand (because he doesn’t know exactly how mental illness works), and Mom is a nurse, so she’s under enough stress. (And I don’t want her to worry more. She’s heard about the epidemic of teen suicide.) I managed to convince them that it was a one-time thing. I think my dad and brother have mostly forgotten about it (and maybe mom, too), and I’m glad, because I don’t want them to treat me differently.
I think that’s how many of us feel even though we were born where we live.
